Poll for The Express reveals Labour would lose 130 seats while reform surges to become official opposition

A new opinion poll for The Express, conducted to mark the 5th anniversary of the UK leaving the European Union, reveals a country that is deeply dissatisfied with the traditional political parties.

The new polling reveals there is untrusting of the Government to capitalise on opportunities for Britain post-Brexit and sceptical of Sir Keir Starmer and his Governmentโ€™s ability to deliver on its aims of promoting economic growth or control immigration.

Andrew Hawkins, CEO of Whitestone said of the poll, โ€œThis poll reveals three facts about the current state of UK politics. First, Reform UK are benefiting from a perfect storm in the form of a Labour Party which appears deaf to the needs of the working class, and a Conservative Party whose own voters acknowledge their abject failure in government.

โ€œSecond, if Labour do not get immigration under control they will not only fail to regain voters already lost to Reform but are likely to lose even more.

โ€œThird, after five years of Tory failure to take advantage of Brexit, expectations are unsurprisingly low about Labourโ€™s ability to do it properly. Yet this poll shows that wins on global trade and immigration could make a large proportion of voters feel that Brexit has been a success.โ€

According to Electoral Calculus, this would translate into Labour being 43 seats short of a majority with Labour losing 130 of its current 412 seats and Reform UK being the principal beneficiary and becoming HM Official Opposition on 118 seats, five more than the Conservatives who would lose a further eight seats on their disastrous 2024 showing.
