MP does not think ‘police have a handle on the situation’ and calls for the army to step in

The former First Minister of Scotland Humza Yousaf has called for the Army to be drafted in to stop the rioting and violence across the UK.

He said it looks like the police do not look like they have a “handle on the situation” as police were unable to “protect those” who are being housed at the Holiday Inn in Rotherham.

Yousaf said, “It doesn’t look like, to me, the police have a handle on the situation.

The police have not been able to protect those that are in the Holiday Inn.

“The army can help to get control where the police are unable.”

The Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has called for Parliament to be recalled and has said we “should not discount the use of the army.”

Farage said he is “totally appalled by the level of violence seen in the last couple of days.

“The levels of intimidation and threat to life have no place in a functioning democracy.

“That so many police officers have been injured trying to keep the peace is shocking, and we should not discount the use of the army if the situation were to deteriorate further.

“In the short term, we will quell the riots, but deeper long-term problems remain.”

Farage then blamed the “soft policing of Black Lives Matter protests, the impression of two-tier policing has become widespread.

“The Prime Minister’s faltering attempts to address the current crisis have only added to that sense of injustice.

“The majority of our population can see the fracturing of our communities as a result of mass, uncontrolled immigration, whether legal or illegal.

“Yet to attempt debate this in the public arena leads to immediate howls of condemnation. A population explosion without integration was always going to end badly. I have said this for many years.

“We must have a more honest debate about these vital issues and give people the confidence that there are political solution that are relevant to them. A recall of Parliament would be an appropriate start to this.”

A former Metropolitan police detective has warned that he sees the protests and riots “escalating and spreading” to other parts of the UK.

Peter Bleksley warned that should the riots go “beyond the capabilities” of the police this could then lead to the “unfortunate sight” of soldiers being deployed “on the streets of Britain.”

Speaking to GB News the former Met detective said, “I see this escalating and spreading. It concerns me because if it goes beyond the capabilities of the police, will we have to face the unfortunate sight of troops on the streets of Britain?”
