An Ethiopian illegal migrant living at the taxpayers funded Bell Hotel in Epping has been sentenced to just 12 months in prison after he was found guilty of five charges, including two of sexual assault.
Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu crossed the English Channel then days later sexually assaulted a woman and a 14-year old child.
The judge told the Ethiopian at Chelmsford Magistrate Court his behaviour really highlights the poor regard you must have for women”, adding he is only “feeling sorry for yourself, knowing you were well and truly caught”.
District Judge Christopher Williams said, “Your offending as an asylum seeker housed at The Bell Hotel caused such a response from the public, particularly in Epping, but also across the United Kingdom.
“It resulted in mass demonstrations and the fear that children in the United Kingdom are not safe.”
