The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning as temperatures are set to plummet to as low as minus 7C and there is a chance of icy patches developing in the coming days.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a yellow cold health alert for various areas across England, the North East, North West, Humber and the South East and Yorkshire from 9am Friday until 9am on Tuesday.
Stephen Dixon, spokesman for the Met Office, said, โWhat weโre seeing with the UKโs weather over the next few days is the influence of high pressure and the development of south easterly air flow which will see temperatures drop for many.
โWe could see temperatures drop as low as minus 7C in rural parts of Scotland from Friday into the weekend.
โFurther south weโre still likely to see through the weekend sub-zero temperatures.
โRural parts of southern Wales could reach minus 4C from Friday overnight into the weekend.โ
Dixon added, โFebruary has started warmer than average, so itโs going to be a return to more typical February averages, albeit a bit colder.
โFrom Friday, thereโs a chance of some snow drifting into parts of the south of England and south Wales, however, this is relatively short-lived, itโs not expected to be impactful at the moment.โ
