The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan is demanding that all Londoners should wear face masks to prevent the spread and exposure of coronavirus.

He believes that Londoners should be obligated to wear face masks whilst in public, and his decision is based on scientific guidance.

Speaking to the BBC Khan said, “I am hopeful that the advice from scientists will change.

“The evidence around the world is that this is effective.

“I am lobbying our government, our advisers to change their advice and I want us to do that sooner rather than later.”

Former Transport for London (TfL) Board member Michael Liebreich hit out at Khan and said, “You cannot have social distancing on public transport.

“So, you have got to treat it differently to people passing in the street while able to maintain social distancing.

“We have got to really step up the amount of protection, not just for drivers but also for passengers.

“The Mayor has a statutory duty to run a safe system.

“He needs to step up and ensure the safety of the service he runs, he is the Mayor and Chair of Transport for London.

“He has to make sure that it is a safe service.”

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police have once again come under fire, yet again for allowing people to flout lockdown social distancing measures, this time on Westminster Bridge, led by the UK’s top cop.

Video footage has emerged that shows hundreds of people including the police flouting the law as they gathered closely to clap for the NHS.
