A leaked government document has revealed that a huge range of restrictions could remain in place later than 19 July.

The Prime Minister previously said that he wants many of the restrictions lifted after 21 June, which was postponed until 19 July this week due to the rise in the Indian variant.

A paper seen by Politico says that life for Brits might not return back to normal next month as Boris Johnson has planned.

It is likely that working from home, the wearing of face masks and social distancing will remain in place with the “Freedom Day” possibly being put back again.

The Sun newspaper also saw a snippet which reveals that perspex screens could be reviewed, as there is “no good evidence” over their effectiveness for their usage in preventing diseases.

Downing Street claims that the information was seen “from a document that we don’t recognise, it doesn’t reflect the latest government thinking.”

They added, “We’ve paused at step three for up to four weeks to assess the new Delta variant, and we need to analyse and understand more data on this variable before any future plans are considered.”

A government spokesperson said, “We have paused at Step 3 for up to four weeks due to the new Delta variant, and we will continue to assess the latest data on this variant over the coming weeks.”
