The Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that they will never “discuss exchanging” their territory.
This comes as President Volodymyr Zelensky has said in an interview that he could trade Ukrainian territory for potential peace talks.
Peskov said, “It is impossible. Russia has never discussed and will not discuss the topic of exchanging its territory.”
Peskov then said Ukrainian units operating in Russian territory, making reference to the Kursk incursion will be “eliminated and booted out.”

Peskov added, “Certainly, Ukrainian formations will be driven out of this territory. They will be eliminated and booted out.”
On 6 August 2024 Ukrainian forces launched an incursion into Russia’s Kursk region and captured a large amount of territory which has seen fierce fighting from Russian and North Korean troops.
President Zelensky said that they continue to hold Putin’s territory which might play “an important part” negotiations.
Speaking to the Guardian newspaper President Zelensky said, “We will swap one territory for another,” but stopped short of saying which occupied territories.
He added, “I don’t know, we will see. But all our territories are important, there is no priority.”
