‘Kim Jong Sunak’ Tory campaign starts by ‘forcibly kicking out national media’ from the Excel

On Wednesday evening the Prime Minister started hit Tory election campaign by having the “national media” literally “manhandled” by security to kick out a Sky News political correspondent live on air.

Political correspondent Darren McCaffrey was forcibly removed by security at the Excel Centre prior to Rishi Sunak started his speech.

Video footage clearly shows a security guard putting his arm around McCaffrey and pushing him forwards to leave who was in fact there under invitation.

McCaffrey was told that he and his camera crew who were filming live are being denied entry from the election campaign because the event would be “pooled” which means other broadcasters would have to share this amongst others.

McCaffrey said, “We just simply wanted to have access tonight, but unfortunately, we are told that because there are pool arrangements in place, we are not allowed to be here.”

McCaffrey added that it was “not entirely clear” as to why he was not being allowed to enter the room.

A producer told the Independent that “we told them we are going live and there were like ‘we don’t care’.”

“We weren’t going to stop filming. It was absolutely ridiculous, absolute nonsense.

“If they don’t want us here then why did they invite us?

“Now they’ve locked all our stuff away and I have to wait for everyone to clear out before I can pick up my cameraman’s bag.”
