Several thousand people have been injured in a deadly cyberattack across Lebanon and parts of Syria with at least nine killed and Israeli spies are in the frame.

Pagers exploded across Lebanon on Tuesday which also injured the Iranian ambassador and in total 2,750 were wounded with some 200 of them have been left critically injured, the Health Minister Fira Abiad confirmed on Wednesday.

Simultaneously hundreds of devices exploded which were newly received pagers rocked Labanon with explosions and smoke was seen coming out of people’s pockets followed by explosions, according to eyewitnesses.

One eyewitness told CNN that he saw bodies lying in the streets with blood everywhere and parts of Beirut was turned into a “zombie city.”

He told CNN, “We went out to the streets, and we found the suburb as if it was a zombie city.”

Another told the news site, “There was blood on the roads and people were being transported in ambulances to the hospital, but we did not know what was happening.”

Reuters reports that some three grams of explosives were hidden in the newly acquired pagers and it was left undetected for many months by the Iranian back militia group Hezbollah.

A source told Reuters, “The Mossad injected a board inside the device that has explosive material that receives a code. It’s very hard to detect it through any means. Even with any device or scanner.”

Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate on Israel and peace in the region is now in “serious jeopardy” the Iranian Foreign Minister has warned on Wednesday.

Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has accused Israel for the attack, he warned this have now put “regional and international peace and security in serious jeopardy.”

A senior Lebanese source told Reuters that the Israeli spy agency was behind Tuesday’s attack and they had installed explosives inside thousands of pagers many months ago.

The Mirror reported, that in a statement, the company behind the pagers said, “Apollo Gold Corporation has established a long-term private label authorisation and regional agency cooperation with BAC.

“According to the agreement, we authorise BAC to use our brand trademark for production sales in specific regions, but the design and manufacturing of the products are entirely handled by BAC.”

Speaking to CNN, David Kennedy, a former US National Security Agency intelligence analyst described the attack as “incredible.”

He said, “It’s more likely that Israel had human operatives… in Hezbollah. The pagers would have been implanted with explosives and likely only to detonate when a certain message was received.”
