Exclusive data revealed today shows that Deliveroo’s ‘HOP’ rapid grocery service has seen a big jump in demand for last-minute Christmas goodies as the festive season gets underway, with orders for Christmas essentials up by 106% on November.

In Brighton, this rises to 169%, with Bristol customers close behind in embracing the Christmas spirit following a 145% rise in sales for seasonal staples in December.

The most popular Christmas products for rapid delivery include: tubs of Quality Street, Cadbury Snowy Fingers, mince pies, brie, profiteroles and Shloer.

This new data from Deliveroo comes following what’s traditionally regarded as the busiest week of the year for office Christmas parties. It reveals that popular hangover cures have seen a boost in sales this month – with orders for bacon so far in December already 10% higher than in November, Lucozade up 25% and Berocca up by 32%.

Deliveroo HOP, available through the app and first introduced in September 2021 sits alongside Deliveroo’s existing and fast-growing on-demand grocery service, which delivers from nearly 7,000 partner grocery stores across the UK, across major supermarket brands and smaller independents.

Sam Hancock, Vice-President of Product, Grocery said: “The festive season is well and truly in full swing, and it’s great to see our customers embracing the Christmas spirit and stocking up an array of seasonal treats alongside their usual kitchen staples.

“We love delivering these classic festive favourites to people’s doors in minutes – as well as helping to serve up remedies to those who might be feeling a little worse for wear after celebrating at their Christmas parties!”
