The Greek Tourism Minister has said that Brits who are vaccinated are welcome to have holidays in Greece without the need to have a Covid test.

Haris Theoharis said that he is hopeful for a “semi normal” summer and that discussions are underway with UK officials to see how “this could work.”

Also those who have not yet been vaccinated are also welcome to take holidays in Greece if they provide a negative test result.

Speaking to Radio 4’s Today programme, Theoharis said the government are in “very preliminary discussions” with the British government to discuss “how this could work.”

He said, “Technical discussions are underway to see if that’s going to be feasible. I am very hopeful we can reach some kind of solution.

“We don’t want to limit travel to those who have been vaccinated of course, but since we are mandating that before travelling someone has to have a negative test result, this is a waste of resources if people are vaccinated, to be tested every time they travel, the need for this testing could be limited by the vaccination certificate.”

The Tourism Minister said that the UK are a “leading country” with the vaccination programme and is “hopeful” that the “situation would be much, much better” this summer.
