Dixons Carphone announced that during lockdown their online sales tripled in the UK and Ireland, massively outperforming its markets in Europe.

Online sales rose by 49% in the Nordics, whilst in Greece they soared by 115%, stores were open throughout the lockdown in both areas.

Chief executive Alex Baldock said, “Online has continued to power ahead: in the UK & Ireland alone we grew online sales by more than £500m in four months, growth that stayed strong even as stores reopened.”

Baldock said that a potential initial public offering (IPO) will take place in 2021 of their Nordic business, and the company will sell a minority stake and will keep the subsidiary under the group.

He added, “We’re also in the early stages of exploring the option of listing a minority stake of our Nordics business next year.

“This would shine a light on the value of the Nordics business whilst retaining it as part of the group.”
