The British foreign secretary Dominic Raab has said that Britain will “not be aligning with EU rules” in any post-Brexit trade deal.

The foreign secretary argued the point of agreeing to proceed with EU regulations defeats “the point of Brexit.”

Next month the UK and EU are to start talks to negotiate a free trade deal following Friday’s exit from the bloc.

Boris Johnson is to set out his position ahead of the free trade deal talks on Monday and he will tell the EU he will accept customs checks at Britains borders, should he not get the trade deal is wants for the UK.

Nigel Farage the Brexit Party leader welcomes Johnson’s approach the EU saying that it is in the UK’s “national interest”  to be a “competitor” on the blocs “door step.”
