MPs had to vacate their chambers this afternoon after rumours of a bomb scare, according to people working in the Houses of Parliament.

Andrew Griffiths, Member of Parliament for Burton and Uttoxete, tweeted: “Had to evacuate my office in parliament  due to a bomb scare.”

Cameron Brown, who “works for a Tory MP”, also tweeted about the bomb scare.

“Bomb scare in Parliament. It’s all kicking off here…,” he tweeted

Earlier this month, the Houses of Parliament went into a lockdown after a suspicious package was found near the premises. Traffic was stopped, cordons were put up and no-one was allowed in or out of the building.
