Air India flight diverts amid a bomb threat

An Air India flight which took off from Birmingham to Delhi was forced to divert to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday after the plane received a bomb threat.

The plane safely landed at Riyadh and following a security sweep of the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner nothing was found.

This is the same type of plane that crashed in Ahmedabad two weeks ago in India minutes after take-off.

A spokesperson for British Airways flight forced to turn back to Heathrow days after the Air India plane crashAir India said, “Flight AI114 from Birmingham to Delhi on June 21 received a bomb threat and was consequently diverted to Riyadh, where it landed safely and completed security checks.”

The airline added, โ€œAll passengers have been deplaned and are being provided hotel accommodation.

โ€œThe inconvenience caused to our passengers due to this unforeseen disruption is sincerely regretted. Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destinations.โ€
