Before getting a Botox treatment, it is important to prepare yourself mentally and physically for your appointment. You may not be particularly nervous about the treatment as you may simply be confident in your practitioner and are not worried about anything in particular. But regardless of what you are treating, be it getting a Botox for forehead treatment or even a simple skin cleansing, you should know a few things before heading in for the procedure.
The following tips are listed by patients with experience with Botox and have some tips to give to those who are trying it out for the first time. While you can get plenty of information from the practitioners themselves, who are always happy to share everything you need to know to have no worries when you step into the clinic, other patients have a lot to offer in terms of tips and advice.
Thanks to the NYC cosmetic centre SkinGenity, we were able to get into contact with some of their patients who gave us a few of their most valuable tips.
Do your research
Learn as much as you can before heading in for the treatment. I learned from my own mistake of not properly educating myself on the procedure and the compound before heading in. And while I did not have a particularly unpleasant experience, I do wish I had known a bit more before I stepped into the clinic and was about to get injected in the face.
It’s not really a matter of knowing everything about the treatment but rather answering any question that is on your or that will make you more at ease when you get treated. So, my tip would be to learn anything you can about Botox and then make that appointment.
Ask questions
Don’t be afraid to ask all the questions that are on your mind. My practitioner was very open and she gave me all the answers to even my most complicated questions. From what I know most practitioners are like this and they do like to share with their patients all the information they need on Botox.
Ask them and don’t be afraid to give them too many questions to answer. It’s a matter of how confident you are with the treatment and how you feel about it. If you have even the smallest question on your mind that you forgot or hesitated to ask, it’s going to bother you all throughout the procedure and make you uncomfortable.
Bring a friend
Going with a friend was the best decision I made when I signed up for my first Botox treatment. While the clinic staff was friendly enough to help me with anything I needed, it’s still a good idea to bring along someone you know for that extra bit of moral support.
I was lucky enough to have a friend who had experience with Botox. She came along and gave me a little boost in confidence. If you have someone who can help you out and come along, even if they have no experience with Botox, it will definitely give you plenty of moral support. Even if the treatment is nothing too complicated, like a Micro needling treatment, it’s good to have someone by your side.
Don’t put off the appointment
I remember how I spent months thinking and overthinking whether I should get Botox or not and it made it much harder for me to come to a decision. On the other hand, a friend of mine who was also considering getting treated spent his time more efficiently and instead of overthinking got to work learning about Botox and made the appointment in no time.
Obviously, I’m not saying you should impulsively make an appointment without giving it any extra thought; that would be very irresponsible. However, If you feel like you want Botox, it’s best to spend your time learning more about it than putting it off. The more you put off making an appointment, the harder it’s going to be in the long run.
Don’t choose the cheapest place
Do not pick out a clinic solely based on the price of the treatment. As a result of chasing prices, you may end up getting treated by a professional who is unable to get you the results you’re looking for. I made the mistake of doing this and ended up with a practitioner that did not bring out the exact results I was looking for.
This is not to say that you should automatically go to the most expensive clinic in your area but it’s more about not paying as much attention to the pricing. At the end of the day it is not just a matter of the results but also of your health and wellbeing, which does not have a price. Pay closer attention to the feedback that particular treatment has received, how satisfied its clientele is, and how successful their work has been. And while you should still be wary of their prices and understand how much they are going to charge you, don’t make this your main point of focus.
After my first not-so-successful experience I decided to do more careful research and looked for a clinic that matched my needs and desires. The second Botox treatment went far better than the first one and I was more than pleased with the results. It goes to show you how far a little bit of extra digging can take you and help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
