The US Special Envoy Keith Kellogg has slammed Vladimir Putin’s three-day ceasefire calling it “absurd.”
Kellogg said that Washington is wanting to find a solution to a peace deal to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Speaking to Fox News Kellogg said, “A three-day ceasefire is absurd. What the president wants is a permanent, comprehensive ceasefire — sea, air, land, infrastructure — for a minimum of 30 days, and then we can extend that.
“The president has this one right on the money, and that’s where we want to go to.”
This comes as Putin announced on Monday that he wants a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine so Russia can celebrate their Victory Day over Nazi Germany in Moscow, which has been seen as an attempt to “hide its intent to continue the war.”

The ceasefire will be from 8 to 10 May and the Kremlin said Putin wants a ceasefire on “humanitarian grounds” which is where the Russian President will most likely announce to crowds that Russia has won the war.
Ukraine also has slammed Putin’s so called three-day ceasefire, Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote on X, If Russia truly wants peace, it must cease fire immediately.
“Why wait until May 8th? If the fire can be ceased now and since any date for 30 days—so it is real, not just for a parade.”
Kellogg told Fox News of the recent talks in London, he said, “When you look at everything the Ukrainians are willing to work with — now, it’s over to the Russians, over to Putin.”
He added that Ukrainian officials “really doubled down on this (peace proposal),” which involved a 22-point term to end the war.
He said the negotiation process is similar to running a marathon, “The first mile isn’t the hardest, it’s the last one that’s the hardest, and we’re in the last mile.
“Nobody is going to win this war militarily.
“So when Russia says they’re winning-no, they’re not. If they were winning, they would have already won this war… So I think they need to sit back and realize it.
“I think Ukraine‘s in a good position.”
