A US Senator has demanded that if Russia refuses the 30 day ceasefire then the we “should sanction the hell out of them.”
Lindsey Graham said Washington must also sanction countries who buys Russian goods such as uranium oil and gas.
The Republican wrote on X, “I am very encouraged to hear that Ukraine has agreed to the United States’ proposal for a 30-day ceasefire (…) I hope Russia will follow. If Russia refuses, we should sanction the hell out of them.
“…congressionally mandated sanctions that will not only impact Russia, but will also impose sanctions and tariffs on countries that buy Russian goods, including oil, gas and uranium.
“It is long overdue for Russia to feel overwhelming economic pain as a result of their brutal invasion of Ukraine.”
Reuters reported on Wednesday it is unlikely Russia will agree to the 30 ceasefire which was proposed by the US to Ukraine on Tuesday, which Kyiv officials agree too.
Vladimir Putin feels he has the upper hand on the frontlines and he will see the ceasefire as a trap, Reuters reported citing Russian sources.
