The US President has brutally cut all American military aid including what President Joe Biden had signed off.
A White House official said that Donald Trump is focussed on reaching a peace deal which is also what Vladimir Putin wants, they claim.
The official said the US is “pausing and reviewing” all military support to “ensure [Kyiv] is contributing to a solution.”
The US Vice President JD Vance said President Volodymyr Zelensky has a “certain sense of entitlement” in another attack on the Ukrainian leader since the deliberate row and shouting match by the US on Friday which saw him being thrown out of the White House.
On Sunday President Zelensky said that a peace deal with Russia is “still very, very far away,” which angered President Trump.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social media platform, “This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelensky, and America will not put up with it for much longer.
“It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelensky, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the US – probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?”
A Ukrainian politician Oleksandr Merezhko compared Trump’s unhinged suspension of military aid to the appeasement of Adolf Hitler prior to World War II.
Merezhko said, “To stop aid now means to help Putin. On the surface, this looks really bad. It looks like [Donald Trump] is pushing us towards capitulation, (accepting) Russia’s demands. The main thing is that this a psychological blow, a political blow upon Ukraine, it doesn’t help our spirit.
“This is worse than Munich, because at least there they didn’t try to paint Czechoslovakia as the aggressor, but here the, y try to accuse the victim of aggression – it is extremely dangerous.”
Another Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko told Sky News, “I understand we have a crisis in relationships right now after Friday’s meeting in the Oval Office, but I just want to ask Donald Trump to reconsider… maybe just give us some time to get out of this because this is catastrophic for us.”
