Donald Trump has caused uproar by blaming the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for starting the war with Russia, just a day after a Russian attack.
“You don’t start a war against someone 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles,” Trump told reporters at the White House also blaming ย Russian President Vladimir Putin for “millions of people dead” in the Ukraine war.
Trump said it was “terrible” and that he had been told Russia had “made a mistake”.
“Millions of people dead because of three people,” Trump said on Monday. “Let’s say Putin number one, let’s say Biden who had no idea what the hell he was doing, number two, and Zelensky.”
Trump also blamed his predecessor Joe Biden for the war that killed millions so far: โAnd Biden could have stopped it, and Zelensky could have stopped it, and Putin should have never started it. Everybodyโs to blame.โ
Meanwhile, Trumpโs envoy Steve Witkoff told Fox News that he was confident after his latest five-hour โcompellingโ meeting with the Russians that a deal with Putin was โemergingโ.
โTowards the end, we actually came up with โ Iโm going to say finally, but I donโt mean it in the way that we were waiting; I mean it in the way that it took a while for us to get to this place โ what Putinโs request is to get to, have a permanent peace,โ he said.
