The Trump administration is considering to recognise Crimea as part of Russia in a deal to end the war in Ukraine.
The Kyiv Independent reported two sources told Semafor that officials have urged the United Nations to also align themselves with the same decision thus aligning themselves with the same stance as Vladimir Putin.
The US President will be speaking to Putin later today for the proposed 30-day ceasefire and suggested that negotiators have discussed “dividing up certain assets.”
Donald Tump wrote on Truth Social, “Many elements of a Final Agreement have been agreed to, but much remains.
“Thousands of young soldiers, and others, are being killed. Each week brings 2,500 soldier deaths, from both sides, and it must end NOW.”

Ceasefire talks likely to be a stalemate amid Putin’s demands and Kyiv’s ‘red lines’
The National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes insists that the White House has not made any final decisions, although that remains disputed.
Washington has previously suggested Kyiv might have to make concessions to cede territory to Moscow to end the war, but this goes against Ukraine’s “red lines” and European allies also do not agree with this stance.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said on Monday that Ukraine has three red lines for any peace deal with Russia.
In an interview with RBC-Ukraine he said there is “fundamental things” which “cannot be touched.”
He said, “The first is the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Ukraine will never recognize occupied territories. Second, no country has a veto over the choice of the Ukrainian people, over Ukraine’s choice to participate in certain alliances, whether it’s the European Union or NATO.”
“Third, there can be no restrictions on Ukraine’s defense capabilities, no restrictions on the strength of our army, our capabilities.”
He said that “NATO cannot be removed from the agenda” as the Trump administration is ruling out membership despite Ukraine’s alliance bid is “enshrined in the constitution of Ukraine” that is a “strategic choice of the Ukrainian people, and the most effective guarantee of Ukraine’s security.”
