In an interview, US President Donald Trump has accused social media firms of interfering with the upcoming congressional elections, without appearing to offer any evidence.

Talking about companies such as Facebook and Twitter, Trump told the Daily Caller that “I think they already have” interfered in the November 6 election.

Trump’s accusation comes just hours before Facebook’s COO Sheryl Sandberg and chief executive of Twitter Jack Dorsey are expected to testify in Washington today about their companies’ response to foreign interference in elections and the moderation of online content.

Larry Page, the chief executive of Google’s parent company Alphabet, was also invited but the company declined to send him.
