The Prime Minister been told there will be “no free trade without free speech” in the UK which is a brilliant and brutal attack on the pathetic through police, who arrest people for expressing their views if someone does not like what you have said.
The US State Department said in a statement they are “concerned about freedom of expression in the United Kingdom” and The Telegraph was told by a source, there will be “no free trade without free speech.”
The US expressed their concerns over Livia Tossici-Bolt who was prosecuted, not for being a terrorist, burglar or theft, but simply for holding a sign saying “hear to talk if you want” close to an abortion clinic in Bournemouth.
An American diplomat from the US Bureau of Democracy, Labor and Human Rights was recently in the UK and met with Tossici-Bolt.
The diplomat said in a statement, “US-UK relations share a mutual respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
“However, as Vice-President Vance has said, we are concerned about freedom of expression in the United Kingdom. It is important that the UK respect and protect freedom of expression.”
Tossici-Bolt was charged with “infringing a public space protection order” for holding the sign, breaching the so-called buffer zone.
The retired medical scientist, aged 64, told The Telegraph, “My case, involving only a mere invitation to speak, is but one example of the extreme and undeniable state of censorship in Great Britain today.”
She pleaded not guilty and a district judge will give a verdict at the end of the week, the US State Department are “monitoring” the case.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman has admitted on Monday Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs could push the UK into a recession.
Downing Street said they were hoping there could have been a “UK-US economic prosperity deal” that would exempt British items from tariffs.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman was asked will there be a deal signed by Wednesday with Washington, he said he is “not going to put a time frame on those discussions” and they will “likely to continue beyond Wednesday.”
The US President’s tariffs hit the UK and Downing Street has warned they are expecting “the UK to be impacted” by Trump’s levies.
Sir Keirs Starmer’s spokesman said, “When it comes to tariffs, the Prime Minister has been clear he will always act in the national interest, and we’ve been actively preparing for all eventualities ahead of the expected announcements from President Trump this week, which we’d expect the UK to be impacted by alongside other countries.
“Our trade teams are continuing to have constructive discussions to agree a UK-US economic prosperity deal.
“But we will only do a deal which reflects this Government’s mandate to deliver economic stability for the British people. And we will only act in the national interest.”
