Russian MP says Putin will only negotiate with the US

Russia will negotiate a real settlement of the conflict in Ukraine only with the participation of the United States.

A Russian MP has claimed President Volodymyr Zelensky, is not an independent figure, and France, Germany, and the United Kingdom are not interested in peace, said Sergey Mironov.

Mironov said, “The disruption of the next round of negotiations in London after the US refused to participate in them is very significant. It seems that the Americans are starting to realize that their so-called European allies and Zelensky are not at all allies in achieving lasting peace.

“The United States is a party to the conflict that can really influence its end. That is why Moscow agreed to a direct dialogue with Washington.

“It makes no sense to talk without the United States; Russia simply will not participate in any negotiations without their participation and recognize the results of such negotiations.

“The Kyiv regime, which has lost its legitimacy, is desperately seeking protection in Europe after the US has changed its course.

The Russian MP then claimed President Zelensky “is faking his willingness to negotiate, but he hasn’t even lifted his own ban on negotiations with Russia.”

Mironov added, “In fact, he wants to continue the war indefinitely at a slow pace, hoping that this would allow him to maintain power and avoid a quick military defeat.

“This is exactly what the European ‘peacekeepers’ want, and they are trying to impose their plan on Trump. But the US has real leverage: if Trump really wants peace, then let him stop military support for Kyiv. This will be much more effective than any negotiations.”
