The Ukrainian President has warned he cannot give security guarantees for foreign diplomats heading to Moscow for the 9 May Victory Day.

Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Moscow could cause provocations to then accuse Kyiv of attacks.

Vladimir Putin has demanded that Kyiv allow Russians to celebrate their Victory Day and said there will be a three ceasefire.

Putin has announced a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine so Russia can celebrate their Victory Day over Nazi Germany in Moscow, which has been seen as an attempt to “hide its intent to continue the war.”

The ceasefire will be from 8 to 10 May and the Kremlin said Putin wants a ceasefire on “humanitarian grounds” which is where the Russian President will most likely announce to crowds that Russia has won the war.

Andrii Yermak, head of Ukraine’s Presidential office said that “Putin can give the order for his forces to stop.

“But he does not do this in the hope of deceiving everyone.”

Russia has consistently rejected everything and continues to manipulate the world, trying to deceive the United States,” he added.

Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha said, “If Russia truly wants peace, it must cease fire immediately.

“Why wait for May 8? If we can cease fire now from any date and for 30 days – so that it is real, and not just for a parade.”

President Zelensky said that if Russia is serious about peace, then why not declare a 30-day ceasefire, which the Kremlin rejected.

The Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, gave a nuclear warning saying that if Ukraine attacks Moscow on 9 May then “nobody will be able to guarantee Kyiv will live to see May 10.”

President Zelensky said that some government officials have contacted Kyiv asking for security guarantees whilst they are in Russia.

Zelensky said, “Our position is very simple: we cannot take responsibility for what happens on the territory of the Russian Federation. They are the ones providing your security and we will not be offering any guarantees.”

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Ukrainian President has “unequivocally” threatened  World leaders who will be attending Moscow’s Victory Day parade.
