Russia warns Starmer of ‘direct war’ if troops are sent

7th Mar 25 12:22 pm

The UK could be on mission creep and could be dragged into a “direct war” with Russia as Sir Keir Starmer is planning to send British troops as peacekeepers to Ukraine.

A Russian politician has warned the Prime Minister sending troops and refusing to rule out a “sky shield” over Ukraine will amount to “direct involvement in the war.”

The “sky shield” is plan that Downing Street insists will stop Russia launching missile attacks over Ukraine.

This will see a fleet of 120 fighter jets and warplanes to defend Ukraine from Russian missile and drone attacks that will involve a European air force and the RAF to conduct an “Air Protection Zone” (IAPZ) that will function separately from NATO.

The Guardian reported that defence chiefs and military strategist has said that the plan could “achieve greater military, political and socioeconomic impact than 10,000 European ground troops.”

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that boots on the ground on the Ukraine-Russian border will amount to “direct, official and unveiled involvement of NATO members in the war against Russia“.

Lavrov insists, “It can’t be allowed.”

The Prime Minister has rightly said, “The fighting is going on and it’s a big mistake to think that all we’ve got to do is wait for a deal now.

“We’ve got to make sure that if they are fighting on they’re in the strongest position and even if they go into negotiation that they’re in the strongest position.”
