On Sunday the “coalition of the willing” met in Kyiv, and Sir Keir Starmer, the French President Emmanuel Macron and the US President called on Vladimir Putin to accept a 30-day ceasefire or face harsher sanctions.
AFP reported, Macron said the ceasefire “will be monitored mainly by the United States of America, to which all Europeans will contribute,” as the truce would pave the way for “immediate work and negotiations on parties involved to build a robust and lasting peace.”
Macron warned Putin that Russia will be hit with “massive” coordinated US and European sanctions if the 30-day ceasefire is broken.
Macron added, “In the event of a violation of this ceasefire, we have agreed that massive sanctions will be prepared and coordinated between Europeans and Americans.”
The British Prime Minister said on Saturday there is “absolute unity” amongst Kyiv’s allies.
Starmer said, “The position we’ve now got to today is absolute unity across a whole range of countries around the world, including the United States, that there must be that 30-day unconditional ceasefire.”
