Price of oil falls after Iran signals a commitment

Iran has said they are committed to nuclear non-proliferation (NPT) which saw the price of oil fall.

West Texas Intermediate fell 0.2% to $66.84 per barrel whilst Brent crude futures dropped 0.4% to $68.55 a barrel.

On Thursday Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on X Tehran “remains committed to the NPT and its Safeguards Agreement.โ€

Susannah Streeter, head of money and markets at Hargreaves Lansdown, said, “The price of oil hasnโ€™t shifted much, as traders await the outcome of the OPEC+ meeting on potential production increases.
