The Prime Minister and national security chiefs are holding an emergency COBRA meeting as there are fears there could be a Hamas terrorist attack in the UK.

The Home Secretary Suella Braverman the Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley, Rishi Sunak and security advisors have concerns the Israel-Hamas war could spread beyond the Middle East to the UK.

The Metropolitan Police chief has raised concerns over โ€œstate threats from Iranโ€ also.

Sir Mark said, “When youโ€™ve got state threats from Iran, youโ€™ve got terrorism being accelerated by the events and hate crime in communities.

โ€œFor Jewish communities, itโ€™s now about 14-fold increase in antisemitism in London and for Muslim communities, itโ€™s nearly threefold.โ€

On Monday morning Minister Robert Halfron said the government has a responsibility to ensure the UK population are โ€œsafe and secure from the threat of terrorism,โ€ and he refused to say if the terror threat level will be raised from โ€œsubstantial.โ€

Halfron was asked on Times Radio if the terror threat level will be raised, he said, โ€œIโ€™m not at that Cobra meeting. Iโ€™m sure it will be announced later on.

โ€œBut, of course, we have to make sure that British citizens are safe and secure from the threat of terrorism as the Government always does.โ€
