The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning affecting the south east and London which is in place from 10am to 9pm on Thursday.
“Torrential downpours” and thunderstorms could spark a “flooding” alert as it is expected as much as 25 to 35mm of rain could fall within an hour or even up to 60mm within two hours.
The weather warning is in place for Greater London, Southampton, Somerset Bristol, Bath and Oxfordshire.
There is a risk of power cuts train and bus delays due to flooding and lightening strikes make driving conditions possibly difficult for many.
