The Met Office has said that Hurricane Imelda and Humberto remnants will bring storm Amy  to the UK and further weather warnings have come into effect.

On Thursday morning patchy dense fog has hit parts of East England, London, East Midlands southern east and southwest of England.

Storm Amy will hit on Friday and will bring winds of 50 to 60mph inland in the northern regions and on the hills and the coast wind will reach between 70 and 80mph.

Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Tom Crabtree said, “Although there is still some uncertainty about the exact track Storm Amy will take, the system will bring gale force winds across northern and western regions.

“The storm’s evolution is being closely monitored, with its development influenced by the remnants of Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda over the tropical Atlantic.

“These systems have accelerated the jet stream, contributing to the formation and intensification of Storm Amy.”
