Lord Alan Sugar has said that we need “bums back into the office” and claimed that younger people want to “sit at home.”

The Apprentice star said we need people back in the office and is the latest business veteran to criticise people working from home.

Former Asda and Marks & Spencer boss Lord Stuart Rose has criticised people working from home saying it is not “proper work.”

Lord Rose said, “We have regressed in this country in terms of working practices, productivity and in terms of the country’s wellbeing, I think, by 20 years in the last four.”

Lord Sugar 77, who owns Amsprop property portfolio and owns a large estate of office buildings in London, said that working from home has been bad for office landlords.

Lord Sugar said in a BBC interview, “I’m a great advocate of getting them back to work, because the only way an apprentice is going to learn is from his colleagues.”

He said, “It’s small things, like interaction with your more mature colleagues, that will tell you how to do this, how to do that.

“That is lacking in this work-from-home, zoom culture.”

He made the exception for people that are software writers and “get up at three o’clock in the morning with some kind of brainstorm” or even those who are disabled.
