Kyiv invites foreign arms manufacturers to test weapons on ‘fully equipped testing grounds’

17th Jul 25 4:00 pm

The Minister of Digital Transformation has said on Thursday they are launching a new initiative in Ukraine to invite foreign arms manufacturers to test their weaponry.

Mykhailo Fedorov said the programme is called โ€œTest in Ukraineโ€ and Kyivโ€™s Brave1 defence cluster will be involved in the testing, which is aimed to boost new defence projects.

A press release was issued on Thursday advising how foreign weapons manufacturers can apply to have their weapons legally and officially tested in Ukraine.

The press release states, โ€œCompanies will personally participate in the tests to make changes immediately. Or they will transfer the Brave1 product so that the cluster team can test it independently.โ€

The press release says that Fedorov said at the LANDEURO conference in Wiesbaden โ€œUkraine has already built a unique infrastructure for the rapid development of defense innovation.

โ€œWe are ready to help companies from partner countries develop, test and improve technologies that really work on the battlefield.โ€

Ukraine has devised the required infrastructure to test and deploy new technologies rapidly which therefore make the country the perfect testing site for weapons.

Foreign arms makers are invited to work with local manufacturers โ€œto scale developments and accelerate market entry.โ€

Testing of new technologies will happen on โ€œfully equipped testing groundโ€ and there will be soldiers participating with the testing, the tests will not be conducted on Russian forces.

To test weapons inside Ukraine ministryโ€™s website offers a simple guideline as to what permits are required and how to successfully obtain them.

โ€œYou bring the product and take part in the testing process. This allows you to be directly involved, observe how it performs, and make real-time adjustments if needed,โ€ the site says of the first option.

โ€œYou hand over your product to Brave1, and we take care of the rest. You provide online training for us on how to operate your product, and we run the testing ourselves, and deliver a detailed report with the results,โ€ it says of the second.

As part of a selling point, Ukrainian forces will test the weaponry, the website states, โ€œExpertise from end users of technologies: work directly with combat-proven military units to refine your product based on real battlefield experience,โ€ under the โ€œWhat we offerโ€ section.

In the same section it states, โ€œMatchmaking with Ukrainian manufacturers: connect with trusted local partners for co-production and faster deployment.โ€
