JD Wetherspoon cheers increase in total sales

10th Jul 24 11:28 am

JD Wetherspoon reported in the 10 weeks to 7 July in like-for-like sales rose by 5.8% and over the year to date theyโ€™ve increased by 7.7%.

Even though the pub chain has less venues than last year Sir Tim Martin chairman of the firm said that total sales have hit โ€œrecord levels.โ€

Sir Tim said, โ€œThe average Wetherspoon pub has generated taxes of one sort or another of ยฃ7 million in the last 10 years, as well as generating considerable employment and social benefits.

โ€œThe last government failed to implement tax equality between pubs and supermarkets, leading to pub closures and underinvestment.

โ€œWetherspoon hopes that the current Chancellor, with a Bank of England pedigree, will understand how many beans make five, and rectify this inequality.โ€
