From drunk-dialling your ex to not waking up in your own bed, there are a lot of regrettable things we do when we’ve had a few too many drinks.
But buying lobster pots or diving equipment online is a whole new level of inebriated bizarreness
Almost one-in-20 people have spent more than £500 shopping online while drunk, according to a new survey of 2,000 people by Confused.com. Purchases include everything from clothes, pie makers, folding ladders and washing machines.
Brits spend an average of £142 shopping online while drunk and nearly one-in-five consumers admitted they have bought items via the internet while intoxicated.
While clothes remain the number one drunken purchase, other things Brits spend their money on includes holidays (18%) and electronic items like TVs and phones (6%).
Nerys Lewis, head of credit cards at Confused.com, said: “Consumers need to be careful that purchases made when drunk don’t cause them financial problems in the future.
“With the last bank holiday of the summer coming up, Brits might be even more tempted to go out and have a few drinks.
“While people may wake up the next day and have a good laugh about the purchase they’ve made when drunk, these purchases could cause problems further down the line.”
