Roisin Currie, the chief executive of Greggs is urging the Chancellor for no “surprises” in the Autumn Budget as the high street bakery prepares to raise prices.
Greggs has confirmed that there will be a set of price hikes this week, and their two-part breakfast deal will increase from £2.95 to £3.15.
The three-part breakfast deal will increase from £3.95 to £4.15 and some of Greggs baked goods will rise by 5p.
Currie said that Greggs will “still offers exceptional value” and insisted a number of their products “will be protected and will not move,” she added that they are hoping there will be a “balanced Budget” with Rachel Reeves tax plans.
Currie said, “I guess what’s not helpful is when it’s something that comes out that surprises us and that’s what happened with the national insurance last year – we weren’t expecting that and it came in very quickly.
“It’s quite hard to plan and manage a business when you have a £20 million hit that you hadn’t predicted or weren’t aware was coming.”
