The FTSE 100 and 250 did not start trading straight away at 8am today because the London Stock Exchange “is currently investigating a potential trading services issue”. The stocks reopened shortly after 9.40am.

The last time this happened was just over a year ago, when opening trade for delayed by an hour.

The London Stock Exchange (LSE) said they “experienced a technical software issue” that “affected trading in certain securities.”

Trading resumed at 9.40am and hour and half later.
