The boss of Centrica, owner of British Gas, has said that if green levies on energy bills were removed or reduced he would immediately remove those charges from customers’ bills.

Sam Laidlaw made the comments at the CBI Conference in London today.

When panel chair Laura Kuenssberg, business editor of ITN, asked Laidlaw to verify if he would remove the costs to customers if the government removed the levies “next month”, Laidlaw confirmed he would.
