The Prime Minister has said on Tuesday during a press conference that a third wave is likely to hit the UK this year.
Boris Johnson said, “I see nothing in the data now that makes me think we are going to have to deviate in any way from the roadmap, cautious but irreversible, that we have set out but the majority of scientific opinion in this country is still firmly of the view that there will be another wave of Covid at some stage this year.”
Johnson added, “We don’t yet know the full extent of the protection that we’re building up [Covid vaccines], the exact strength of our defences.
“And as we look at what’s happening in other countries with cases now at record numbers, around the world, we cannot delude ourselves that Covid has gone away.”
