Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone’s mother-in-law, who was kidnapped in Brazil’s biggest ransom case last month, has been released from her kidnappers.

Aparecida Schunk, 67, the mother of Ecclestone’s Brazilian wife Fabiana Flosi was kidnapped from her home in Sao Paulo on July 22.

Last night, after police raided the building she was held in and managed to free her without the ransom being paid.

On being released, Schunk weeped and hugged a relative.

She told reporters: “I just ask that the crooks do not kidnap anyone else in Sao Paulo because they will be arrested.”

Two men were arrested as part of the raid. They reportedly posed as delivery drivers and demanded a £27m ransom.
