Sportswear giant Addidas has confirmed on Tuesday that they have been hit by a cyberattack and certain โ€œdata through a third-partyโ€ was obtained.

Adidas said the hackers โ€œmainlyโ€ stole contact information of those who have had dealing with their customer service desk.

Speaking to the PA news agency and Adidas spokesperson said the hacking incident โ€œhas no operational impact,โ€ and that no passwords or card details were stolen.

A statement on the Adidas website said, โ€œAdidas recently became aware that an unauthorised external party obtained certain consumer data through a third-party customer service provider.

โ€œWe immediately took steps to contain the incident and launched a comprehensive investigation, collaborating with leading information security experts.

โ€œThe affected data does not contain passwords, credit card or any other payment-related information.

โ€œIt mainly consists of contact information relating to consumers who had contacted our customer service help desk in the past.

โ€œAdidas is in the process of informing potentially affected consumers as well as appropriate data protection and law enforcement authorities consistent with applicable law.

โ€œWe remain fully committed to protecting the privacy and security of our consumers, and sincerely regret any inconvenience or concern caused by this incident.โ€
