Sportswear giant Addidas has confirmed on Tuesday that they have been hit by a cyberattack and certain โdata through a third-partyโ was obtained.
Adidas said the hackers โmainlyโ stole contact information of those who have had dealing with their customer service desk.
Speaking to the PA news agency and Adidas spokesperson said the hacking incident โhas no operational impact,โ and that no passwords or card details were stolen.
A statement on the Adidas website said, โAdidas recently became aware that an unauthorised external party obtained certain consumer data through a third-party customer service provider.
โWe immediately took steps to contain the incident and launched a comprehensive investigation, collaborating with leading information security experts.
โThe affected data does not contain passwords, credit card or any other payment-related information.
โIt mainly consists of contact information relating to consumers who had contacted our customer service help desk in the past.
โAdidas is in the process of informing potentially affected consumers as well as appropriate data protection and law enforcement authorities consistent with applicable law.
โWe remain fully committed to protecting the privacy and security of our consumers, and sincerely regret any inconvenience or concern caused by this incident.โ
