You’re only 3.57 connections away from anyone on Facebook apparently

The average pair of Facebook users are closer than you might think

You are only an average of 3.57 people away from any random user on Facebook, the social network says.

Celebrating its 12th birthday with the revoltingly-titled “Friends Day”, the company released data showing on average users are only 3.57 degrees apart.

“This is a significant reflection of how closely connected the world has become,” Facebook said.

“When people connect, powerful things happen and lives are changed. We see this on Facebook every day, whether it’s an exchange with an old friend that brings a smile to your face or a new connection that changes your life path, or even the world.”

Those logging on to Facebook today will be able to watch a video featuring their friends. Founder Mark Zuckerberg said he wanted to concentrate on users rather than the success of Facebook as a company.

He said: “We figured that rather than having this birthday that focuses on us, we should make sure that the world focus [sic]on what’s important that’s actually happening, which are only stories of how people are connecting around the world and it’s just amazing and it’s inspiring to hear.”
