Touchdown: The new John Lewis advert is out and it’s the best one yet

Forget cartoon bears and mail-order penguin brides, this year it’s all about the man on the moon.

Yes, John Lewis has done it again.

If you’re a regular reader of London Loves Business you might have noticed what cynical grumps we are. In fact, we hate EVERYTHING.

But even our cold robotic eyes shed a tear this morning – and not over the eye-watering £7m spent on the ad campaign.

“Why the man on the moon?” I hear you ask. Well, the campaign is inspired by the fact Christmas Day will have a full moon this year and it’s a partnership with charity Age UK.

Directed by Kim Gehrig, who is responsible for the highly successful This Girl Can advert, and premiered during tonight’s episode of Gogglebox, the ad features floaty, ethereal Norwegian singer Aurora Aksnes covering the Oasis song Half the World Away.
