Who’s bagged the number one spot?
John Lewis has been named the UK’s most attractive employer in a new survey.
The upmarket department store and owner of Waitrose bagged first place out of 150 of the UK’s largest employers.
Car manufacturer BMW came second and British Airways took the third spot.
The poll is the largest of its kind in the UK – with nearly 11,000 respondents – and revealed that many of our favourite employers are manufactures and pharmaceuticals.
The biggest surprise for the pollsters was PwC’s positon in fourth place. The same poll from last year placed the financial services company thirteenth.
The authors of the poll, the recruitment agency Randstad, put PwC’s rise in rankings down to ‘word of mouth’ saying: “Word of mouth is the purest and most successful form of promotion as it works on the basis of trusted relationships, and is simply a more credible reflection of employer brand.”
‘Honest’ was named the top employer trait of thos polled, while men placed attributes like ‘thrilling’ and ‘daring’ higher than women.
