A new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, opens today in the UK and the hype surrounding it suggests it will be the most popular yet.

The current highest-grossing film of the franchise is Star Wars Ep. I: The Phantom Menace, grossing $64.8m in the US on its opening weekend and more than $1bn dollars worldwide to date.
