Russian newspaper: Prince Charles’s "Putin like Hitler" comment "could trigger an international scandal"

A Russian newspaper has said Prince Charles’s remarks comparing Russian president Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler.

He made the comment on a visit to a Canadian immigration centre, while speaking to a former polish war refugee. The prince, referring to Hitler, “said something to the effect of ‘it’s not unlike… what Putin is doing,’” the woman recalled.

Clarence House said the remark was in private conversation, however Moskovskij Komsomolets (MK), the Russian daily newspaper said it risked complicating UK/Russian relations and risked “triggering an international scandal”.

Anti-Russia activists on Facebook were quick to praise the prince. The Daily Mail front page, which carried the story, has already been liked more than 300 times on the Euromaiden Facebook group, with commenters saying “Well said, Prince Charles” and “Good old charley”.
