With just 100 days to go until the Tour de France Grand Départ in Yorkshire, some of London’s Boris bikes are sporting a radical new yellow paint job in support of the race.
A total of 101 yellow bikes will be available across the city, marking the tour’s 101st birthday. They will be available until the event hits London on July 7.
Launching the yellow bikes, Boris Johnson, said: “Much like the clamour for the golden tickets in Charlie and the Chocolate factory people across the capital will now be on a frantic search for these beautiful yellow bikes. I am sure Londoners will share my excitement at once again welcoming the Tour to London. Go find a yellow bike and dream of whizzing along the Champs-Élysées wearing the Yellow Jersey. Chapeau!”
The third day of the two week race will see the 200 or so riders in the Tour de France ride from Cambridge to London where the race will take in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and culminate in a finish on The Mall.
